The course is split in to two modules with the first covering coral reef ecology, basic coral identification and coral survey methods. The second module covers Red Sea fish Identification and fish survey methods with the final dive preparing candidates to collect data for our citizen’s science projects. Having the ability to understand and identify marine species is as important for recreational divers and snorkelers as it is for researchers. The Open Ocean Fish and Coral Identification course is unique in that it can be tailored to suit the individual or groups specific needs. Following a basic introduction to encompass all the commonly encountered species with basic common names for fish and coral families and their distinguishing features, it can be tailored to go in to as much detail as suits the individual or group. So whether you are a recreational diver wanting to expand your knowledge or an early career scientist daunted by the prospect of learning hundreds of scientific names we can tailor a course specifically for you.
