Conservation
A healthy ecosystem is the basis for almost all activities in the Red Sea and benefits the economy as well as the environment. The only way to truly safeguard the Red Sea is to work with and provide knowledge to its future custodians and their progenies. With knowledge comes understanding, with understanding comes concern, with concern comes action. A young mind is untarnished with the burden of historical ways and can clearly see what must be done to sustain their way of life. The future, their future, is in their hands. Open Ocean, with the help of local activist, organise and conduct regular clean up events within the local communities focusing on schools and youth groups. The events often include presentations about the Red Sea environment and what can be done to preserve it. Insight gained from Open Ocean research is directly applicable to conservation and management efforts. In order to align environmental conservation with sustainable development in the area Open Ocean's goal is to create a platform for discussion, innovative research and knowledge exchange at all levels.
It starts right here!
