Volunteering
Our residential programmes for Volunteering at Open Ocean provide an ideal opportunity to get involved in many aspects of Environmental Conservation, Citizen Science Projects and Local Community Interactive Relationships. We offer full intern packages for a minimum of one month or a shorter two week teaser opening for a glimpse of the amazing work undertaken by the volunteer programme. Divers and non divers are welcome to join the programmes. Volunteers are hands on with all aspects of our works whatever that maybe; Organising and conducting beach and reef clean ups; sorting of and collating data on, the collected debris ; appropriate recycling and disposal of the collections. Community projects such as maintenance and refurbishment of local schools. Providing conservation education sessions with practical events for the local children and environmental groups. Data collection for Open Ocean citizen science projects either as an Open Ocean Survey Diver/Snorkeller leading the activity or as an dive assistant providing essential support. For non divers, processing to the open source storage of the collected data and assisting researchers with their projects. There may also the chance to indulge in your favorite pastimes and show off your skills to the local community. The costs for a 2 Week Teaser Stay start at €850 per person or for a Month Stay start at €1350 per person sharing Full details including the dramatically reduced diving course costs whilst on the programme.
