On this page Open Ocean Science Centres simply aim to demonstrate the range of research and field study opportunities that are available, it is not an extensive list of projects as it would constantly need updating and become unmanageable.

Lucy Deans - University of Cumbria, England
Lucy took up a six month placement with Open Ocean Field Station in 2016. During her time at Open Ocean she completed an amazing amount of conservation work with the assistance from the volunteers and staff at Roots Red Sea. In addition to her paper on Microplastics on the sea bed, she was endlessly battling with debris from land and sea, collecting, sorting and collating data for her own and other projects.

Are Microplastics more Prevalent in Seabed Sediment at Shallower Depths in the Red Sea?
